Nickel Plating

Nickel Plating Solutions – Corrosion Protection & Functional Finishes

Nickel plating is a versatile surface treatment process that enhances the corrosion resistance, wear protection, hardness, and aesthetics of metal components. It is widely used across aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, electronics, and tooling industries. Depending on the application, different types of nickel plating offer tailored benefits.

Electroless Nickel Plating (EN Plating)

Electroless nickel plating is a chemical deposition process that applies a uniform nickel-phosphorus alloy coating without using electrical current. It is ideal for complex shapes, internal surfaces, and components requiring consistent thickness and excellent corrosion resistance.

Key Features:

  • Uniform thickness, even on intricate geometries
  • Superior corrosion and chemical resistance
  • Hardness up to 950 HV (with post heat-treatment)
  • Available in low, medium, and high phosphorus variants
  • Ideal for oil & gas, mold & die, and precision parts

Electrolytic (Electric) Nickel Plating

Electrolytic nickel plating (also known as electroplated nickel) uses an electric current to deposit nickel metal onto a substrate. This process allows for faster deposition and control over thickness but is less uniform on complex parts compared to electroless methods.

Key Features:

  • Bright, decorative or matte finish options
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • Good adhesion to a variety of substrates
  • Typically used in decorative, electrical, and general engineering applications
  • More cost-effective for simple geometries

Nickel-PTFE Composite Coating

Nickel-PTFE coating is a hybrid electroless nickel system embedded with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) particles, combining the hardness and wear resistance of nickel with the low friction and nonstick properties of PTFE. It’s especially beneficial where dry lubrication and release are critical.

Key Features:

  • Self-lubricating, low coefficient of friction
  • Corrosion and wear resistance with added release properties
  • Uniform coating thickness
  • Excellent for moving parts, bearings, molds, and anti-galling applications
  • Used in food processing, aerospace, and sliding assemblies
