Xylar 2 / Xylan 1070 PTFE-coated stud bolts

image

Xylar 2® is nearly twice as durable as the best organics. An inorganic ceramic-metallic coating, it is known to protect metals from high temperature oxidation and corrosive salt environments. Initially, Xylar 2 was designed exclusively for aircraft & aerospace applications. A second-generation cermet, it offers a hard barrier coating which is capable of rupturing the electrical path between unlike metal components. Xylar 2 is a combination of ceramic materials and aluminum metal fillers. It tends to become a metallic/ceramic coating (cermet) on curing.

Xylar 2 applications

Xylar 2 offers the marine and aerospace industries with materials to safeguard components from oxidization, high temperature, salt laden atmospheres, abrasives and chemicals.

The thickness of Xylar 2 makes it reach 10000 hours with minimal red rust in salt fog. Moreover, Xylar 2 stands up to 1100°F/600°C of uninterrupted use.

As mentioned earlier, Xylar 2 finds its use in the marine and aerospace industries. It is used as thermal barrier in case of automotive engine & exhaust parts.
